Cos it's fun! You get to laugh, eat, walk, eat, make friends, eat, laugh, enjoy being with friends, eat, taste the best local, artisan, fresh food available on the Causeway Coastal Route in unexpected or undiscovered or simply as yet untried cafes, eateries, pubs, distilleries, coffee shops and bakeries.
Is all the food included in the cost of the tour?
Absolutely! You are a guest! Now, there’s a lot of tea involved as, in Ulster Scots, I’m an ‘aul tay wife’ so if you would prefer coffee at any venue, let me know.
I am a vegetarian, who happens to eat fish. Which tour can I do?
All of them! Our chefs and eateries are used to handling many dietary requirements from vegetarian choices to coeliac disease. Please just let us know of any allergies, intolerances or other dietary requirements at time of booking.
If I do one tour, is there any point in doing another one? Aren’t they all the same??
Each tour is as unique as the towns and villages through which we walk - it would be amazing to do more than one. In fact (see below), you’ll get a 15% discount on the next tour you book!
Is there a discount if we take more than one tour?
Yes, if you want to come on more than one tour with us, we’ll give you 10% discount off your second and third (and fourth and fifth...) tour.
I’m only here for a few days and there doesn’t seem to be a tour then - do you offer any kind of special private tours?
Yes! Just use the contact form to get in touch and we can have a talk about what you’d like to do. You can find out more about our private tours here
My son is in a wheelchair and my granddaughter is in a stroller. Can we still come on a tour?
We can accommodate strollers/pushchairs easily; wheelchairs are trickier but still possible - please use the contact form (below) to check if it’s feasible on the day of your choice.
Can a private tour be done for a group of 10?
Yes! We can run tours for groups of 6 - 12 at no extra cost.
We want our guests to have a great time - if something comes up we will give a full refund if you contact us 48 hours before the tour.
Can we take children on the food tour?
We welcome children - the tour is three hours long and some children have a limited attention span and therefore the tour may not be appropriate for some of them. Parents, who know their children best, should assess the situation individually as there is a lot of sitting, listening to people and walking; please consider this when deciding whether the tour is appropriate for your child.
How much walking is involved? Is it a fast-paced tour?
Each walking tour lasts between 3 and 3½ hours and is approximately 1.5/2 miles long. The tours are led at a casual pace with plenty of stops for sitting (and eating!!).
Do I have to purchase tickets in advance? Can I pay cash?
All tickets must be purchased in advance via this website or by phoning our local Visitor Information Centres. If you pop into one of these, they can also accept cash. Ballycastle VIC: 028 207 62024 Bushmills VIC: 028 207 30390
Do we only walk around and sample food?
Absolutely not! We offer an insider’s view into local life. Our knowledgeable local tour guides will open your eyes to the richness of Ballycastle, Bushmills, Rathlin Island and the Causeway Coast and Glens' history and culture, and satiate your appetite with an unforgettable 3-hour foodie adventure.
Is alcohol included on the tours?
We taste a small amount of Rathlin Red Ale on the Ballycastle and Rathlin Island Tours, and one shot of 12 year old Bushmills Whiskey on the Bushmills tour bought in and provided by the licensed establishments we visit.
Of course! Each tour is on a schedule to ensure that each stop has our table reserved and that the food is freshly prepared when we arrive. Along the route, we will point out some of our favorite shopping and dining spots, so allow time at the end of the tour to return to your favourite locations and/or shops. So, if you wait til the end of the tour, you can knowledgeably go back and shop til you drop.
Are the walking tours on in bad weather?
All our tours are held rain or shine - this is Ireland after all! We would ask that you please look at a weather forecast and dress appropriately - layers are the way to go here. Rain coats and umbrellas along with comfortable walking shoes. Tickets cannot be cancelled due to the weather. (See below on ‘Packing for a vacation in Ireland.)
Are tours offered only in English?
At the moment, yes, although we have the potential to host them in Spanish, French or German for private groups booked well in advance.
